
This is a
voluntary based program that began in October 1996. Using a model of participatory
environmental conservation based at the University of Dar-es-Salaam, this program involves
students, staff and recent graduates of the university. There goal is to conserve both
land and biodiversity on campus, including the preservation of flora and fauna. Among
targeted and accomplished activities are tree planting on campus and in the neighboring
primary schools, rehabilitation of eroded University land and establishing a tree seedling
nursery on campus.
