Piro Biodiversity Center (Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica)

The goal of the Piro Biodiversity Center is to educate visitors on the biocultural issues related to rainforest conservation, including practical conservation-by-use projects such as the fallen timber extractive reserves, a community-based natural forest project that produces certified timber for sale without cutting any trees. The Center has hosted several international and national courses on forest management and community project development, as well as received interns, researchers, volunteers and visitors.

Nature of EPF support: Project promotion through print and electronic sources.
