The Tapriza
Association for Social Help in Dolpa (TASHI-D), an indigenous, Nepali NGO, was established
in 1997. Its mission was to establish a school in Dolpa,Nepal to provide education near
home for children of minority Bonpo heritage, in a culturally appropriate environment.
Classes began at the Tapriza School in 1998, and this boarding facility, located near
villages, now provides standard Nepalese curriculum, plus local language, history, crafts,
and participation in community events. Located in the Shey-Phoksundo National Park of
Nepal, the school collaborates closely with the National Park and uses their environmental
education curriculum.
Now in its second year of teaching, with 55 students, 7 staff and 3
grade lebels, Tapriza needs assistance with their operations budget for children's food,
sanitation, books, teachers' salaries, and cultural programs.
Nature of EPF support: Grant awarded towards the costs
of running the school.
