Trafficking of wild animals is classified as the third largest illicit business in the world. The Campaign Against the traffic of Wild Species has been working to alleviate this problem.

Through media campaigns against having or buying wild animals, and campaigns in favor of purchasing domestic animals, the Campaign attempts to persuade individuals not to buy wild animals. Currently, they are focusing on creating a conscience about these issues among the people of Metropolitan Area of Costa Rica.
